15/8/02 Ymchwiliad Cvhoeddus Storfa 'Ddiogel' Gwastraff Niwcliarar safle Atomfa Trawsfynydd.

Cynhelir yr Ymchwiliad uchod ar Dachwedd 12fed, 2002 yn Neuadd Goffa Penrhyndeudraeth. Bydd yn parhau am dair wythnos, yna bydd wythnos gyntaf Rhagfyr yn wag gyda'r Gweithgor Iechyd a Diogelwch yn cloi'r Ymchwiliad yr wythnos ganlynol. Gobeithiwn y bydd rhywrai o aelodau CADNO yn ymdrechu i fod yn bresennol bron bob dydd er mwyn dangos fod pobi yr ardaloedd yma yn poem am y safle. Mae'n bosib y bydd y gweithgareddau yn ddigon diflas ond gallwch fynd a llyfr croeseiriau, darllen neu wau efo chi - bod yno sy'n bwysig!!

Y mae hwn yn Ymchwiliad o bwys ac yn gosod cynsail i holl atomfeydd Magnox y Deymas Unedig. Y ddau bwnc dan sylw fydd

a) creu storfa newydd ar gyfer gwastrafflefel canolig

b) gostwng uchder adeiladau'r adweithyddion i greu 'storfa ddiogel' i'w gadael am ganrif. Dadi CADNO yw 1) nad yw'r safle yn addas ar gyfer storfa a bod y cwrnni yn torn yr addewid a roddwyd yn y 50au y buasai'r safle yn 'green field site' ar ol gorfien cynhyrchu.

2) na ddylid gostwng uchder yr adeiladau presennol oherwydd mae gwneud hynny yn peri iddi fod yn anos datgymalu'r adweithyddion oddi mewn i'r adeilad, ac mae'n bosibi i'r llygredd fynd i'r amgylchedd.

3) y dylai Llyn Trawsfynydd fod yn rhan annatod o'r safle ac y dylid ystyried dyfodol yr argaeau yn y tymor hir.

Bwriada CADNO roi tystiolaeth yn yr Ymchwiliad a 'rydym wedi nodi y bydd pedwar person yn gwneud hyn, ond gall unrhyw un gymryd rhan. Byddwn yn gofyn i un neu ddau arbenigwr ein cynrychioli a golyga hyn gryn gost.

Bygythiad i godi Atomfeydd eto.

Cyhoeddodd Llywodraeth San Steffan Bapur Gwyn Ymgynghorol ar Ynni yn ystod GorfiFennaf. Ynddo, sonnir am y posibiirwydd o godi Atomfeydd ar y safleoedd presennol. Oherwydd poblogaeth denau Ynys Mon, gellid ffafrio safle'r Wylfa.

RHAID DANGOS GWRTHWYNEBIAD I HYN YN SYTH.

Public Inquiry into the 'Safestore' for Nuclear Waste at Trawsfynydd Atomic Station.

The above Inquiry will commence on the 12th of November, 2002 at Penrhyndeudraeth Memorial Hall. It will last for three weeks, then the first week of December will be free, with the Health and Safety Executive concluding the Inquiry the following week. We hope that some CADNO members will be present every day to voice the local people's concern on these matters. It is possible that the events will be boring but you can take a crossword book, reading material of knitting with you - being there is what's important!

This is an Inquiry that matters and sets a precedence for all the other Magnox power stations in the United Kingdom. The two issues discussed will be a) creating a new Intermediate Waste store.

b) reducing the height of the reactor buildings to create a 'safestore' which will be left for almost a century.

CADNO's argument is 1) the site is not suitable for storing nuclear waste and the company is breaking the

promise that was made in the 50s that it would be a 'green field site' after production ceased.

2) that they should not reduce the height of the present buildings because doing so hampers the dismantling of the reactors inside the building, and pollution could be released into the enviroment.

3) that Trawsfynydd Lake should be an integral part of the site and the long term maintenance of the dams should be considered.

CADNO intends to give evidence at the Inquiry and we have requested that four people may do this, but anyone can participate. We will be asking one or two specialists to represent us, and this will mean extra expenditure.

Threat to build more Power Stations

The Whitehall Government published a White Paper Consultation on Energy in July. In it, they discuss the possibility of building more Power Stations on the current sites. Because of the scant population of Anglesey, the Wylfa site could be favoured.
